You're invited to our information session for new members
Meet us on Sat May 16 at 3pm at the Boston Square Neighborhood Association
Dear fellow community member,
In April, our hearts were heavy as we honored the memory of Samuel Sterling, protested his heinous murder by Brian Keely, a former Michigan State Police officer, and mourned the many victims of police brutality and systemic negligence locally and nationwide.
It was powerful on April 18th to hear the words of Andrica Cage, Samuel’s mother, at the vigil and march she led from Speedway to the Burger King at 5260 Eastern Ave, where Samuel was hit by Brian Keely’s car. It was powerful to hear the words of Anita Johnson, whose son Darius “Karate” Wimberly was killed by police in Benton Harbor. We left that day knowing there is so much to do to achieve justice.
The fight for justice takes work. It takes numbers. It takes many voices to call for change. We need your help in the fight for community control of the police. We know it’s possible in Grand Rapids. We’re not sure if it’s possible without your help.
