The two-year anniversary of Samuel's murder

March and vigil tomorrow, a podcast, and a zine

Dear fellow community members,

Two years ago today Brian Keely murdered Samuel Sterling with an unmarked police vehicle. We hope you’ll join us tomorrow to mourn and protest this heinous crime.

Meet us tomorrow, Saturday, April 18, at the Speedway at 815 52nd Ave SE at 3pm. From there, we’ll march to the Burger King across the street at 5260 Eastern Ave SE.

In memoriam, we want to share a podcast and a zine.

GRAARPR Co-Chair Maxine interviews Andrica Cage, the mother of Samuel Sterling, to share Samuel’s story and to talk about the violence of police in our communities. We are are honored to fight with Andrica and that she has shared her story with us.

We also created a zine about Samuel and our need for community control.

Samuel’s death should not have happened, and we must fight the injustice of Samuel’s death. We ask you to join us in this fight because if we do nothing, nothing changes. You can start by pressuring elected officials, demanding justice and demanding community control of the police. You can also show your support by attending the march and vigil tomorrow.

In solidarity,

Grand Rapids Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression
