A Conversation with Andrica

A Grand Rapids Alliance Event

An earlier version of this post omitted event details like date, time, and location. We apologize for this omission.

Editor’s Note, April 9, 2025

Join the Grand Rapids Alliance on April 12, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM in a conversation with Andrica Cage, the mother of Samuel Sterling. Samuel was murdered in 2024 when Brian Keeley, a Michigan State Police sergeant, struck him with an unmarked police car. Keeley has yet to go to trial and Sterling’s family has been denied their time in court.

Following the conversation, attendees will have the opportunity to make signs for the upcoming Justice for Patrick rally, which takes place on April 27. Food and drinks will be provided by members of the Grand Rapids Alliance.

A Conversation with Andrica is part of the Grand Rapids Alliance’s commitment to working with the families and victims of police violence; community members who are all too often denied justice. We believe families are the backbone of our movement. The families who have direct experience with the police are the most dedicated fighters and can inform our work as we move toward larger scale organizing. We want to help families lead and commit to this fight so they can get the justice they deserve.
